During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The parties emphasized the importance of developing relations between Azerbaijan and Rwanda within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The ministers noted that discussions held during the meeting between the President of Rwanda and President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the COP29 Leaders’ Summit in Baku created new opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two countries.

They hailed the fact that high-level reciprocal visits and political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs give additional impetus to bilateral relations.

During the discussions, the foreign ministers highlighted broad opportunities for cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, mining, oil and gas, agriculture, education, and other areas.

Rwanda’s interest in establishing citizen service centers based on Azerbaijan’s successful “ASAN Khidmet” model was highly appreciated. It was noted that Rwanda is preparing for Formula 1 races and that Azerbaijan’s experience in this field could be beneficial. Rwanda’s active participation in Azerbaijan’s scholarship programs in the field of education was also highlighted.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
