« Rwanda is becoming my second home, » says CSG Patricia Scotland during meeting with President Kagame

Patricia Scotland– sixth and first lady Secretary General of the Commonwealth, met with President Paul Kagame during her visit to Kigali, Rwanda. She stated that Rwanda is becoming my second home, especially with President Paul Kagame always welcoming her so warmly.

She also congratulated the President again on a successful #CHOGM2022 and discussed their shared vision and goals for his role as #Commonwealth Chair-in-Office and how The Commonwealth can assist.

« As the President and I met during the #AGRF 2022 Summit, food security and agriculture were topical, but we also discussed the threat of #Climate Change, increasing #Commonwealth Trade, digitalization and Commonwealth initiatives like #Living Lands, #Blue Charter and #Connectivity Agenda, » wrote Patricia Scotland on Twitter.

She also expressed honoured to be invited to speak at Paul Kagame’s « Presidential Summit – Advancing pathways for people, planet and prosperity » along with leaders from #Africa at #AGRF2022.

In her address, she focused on #Commonwealth commitments to take action for food systems transformation and climate action.

To ensure these commitments are turned into actions, CSG stated that she would continue to work tirelessly to deliver the CHOGM2022 communique and implement agreed actions by Heads, including the Living Lands Charter, Blue Charter through programmes like Common Sensing and the Connectivity Agenda.
