RWANDA – JORDAN: Safadi begins Rwanda visit with focus on expanding cooperation

Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Tuesday met Rwanda’s Foreign Minister Vincent Biruta, prior to the first round of strategic discussions that were agreed upon during a meeting between His Majesty King Abdullah and Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame in Jordan in 2022.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti and Director of the General Intelligence Department Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni will participate in the meeting, which will focus on expanding cooperation and bolstering bilateral relations in various fields, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

At the beginning of their visit to Rwanda, Safadi, Huneiti and Husni laid wreaths at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Touring the memorial, which is the final resting place of 250,000 victims of the genocide, Safadi remarked that the memorial stands as “a sad reminder of the evil generated by hatred, ignorance and racial discrimination”, adding that Rwanda today presents a model for respect for the other, justice and compassion, all of which lead to growth and prosperity.
