The name, Ubumwe, means "togetherness" or "unit" in Kinyarwanda, which is the official language of Rwanda. A longtime supporter of the Zoo named the calf.

Ubumwe was born on Tuesday morning. The Zoo says she currently weighs 130 pounds, and she already weighs 25 pounds more than during her baby checkup on Wednesday.

The Zoo's animal care team continues to monitor the calf 24/7, as well as her mom, Zuri.
